The Silverrudder Race in Denmark took place this weekend – an absolute challenge for both boat and skipper sailing singlehanded 135 NM round the island Fyn in Denmark.

413 boats started, and what a great race! There are 2 classes for multihulls: class “multihull small” up to 28 feet and “multihull large” from 28 feet and bigger.

In total 23 multihulls were entered, and half of these were Dragonflys.

Winner of the ”small“ multihull classs was Dragonfly 25 “Happy Hour” sailed by Peter Lang in a time of 22 hours 9 min. 18 sec. Congratulations to Peter. Other Dragonflys in this class came in 3rd, 5th and 6th. Wind during the race was from 0 to 20 knots, and for most boats it was upwind sailing for 1/3 of the distance. Anders Bastiansen was second boat to arrive close to the finish line in his new Dragonfly 28 Performance, where the wind died completely and current against, so all boats coming here had to sit for about 2½ hours by anchor. Peter Lang though managed  to get away first from the anchor and won only by basicly seconds to the other boats.

Winner of the “large“ multihull class was Jens Quorning in his special experimental One-Off Trimaran “Dragonfire “ and despite far from perfect sailing conditions, Jens managed to make a new record time by beating the old record by only 2 minutes, set by the Danish One Off trimaran “Baracuda” in 2015. Jens was even drifting for 45 minutes before the finish line. Further to this achievement, we need to emphasize that there was no autopilot in the sailing machine. Congratulations to Jens!
